Privacy Policy
Gustavo is designed with privacy in mind. Photos you take are processed in real time by Google Gemini and are never stored on our servers. All personal data remains on your device.
Gustavo is your AI-powered nutrition companion. Photograph any dish or restaurant menu and get instant calorie and macro estimates. Correct any detail with a tap and Gustavo recalculates on the fly. Scan a menu to choose your order consciously, or tell Gustavo what's in your pantry and get a recipe with what you already have. Track your daily meals and reach your goals — without feeling restricted.
This Privacy Policy explains how Francesco Sarpellon, operating as LoopSpark Studio ("we", "us", "our"), handles information when you use the Gustavo iOS application ("the App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.
Data We Collect
Photos of food and menus
When you use the dish analysis or menu scanning features, photos are sent in real time to the Google Gemini API for nutritional analysis. These photos are not stored on our servers or retained by our proxy after the response is returned. Photos saved to your personal diary are stored exclusively on your device.
Pantry photos
Photos you take of your pantry are stored only on your device. They are not transmitted to any external server.
Diary and nutritional data
Meal logs, nutritional records, and diary entries are stored locally on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced via iCloud KeyValue Storage to your personal Apple account. We do not have access to this data.
Health data (HealthKit)
With your permission, Gustavo reads weight, height, and age from Apple HealthKit to personalise nutritional recommendations. The App may also write calorie and macronutrient data to HealthKit. This data is processed locally and never transmitted to our servers.
Usage data and advertising (AdMob)
The free version of Gustavo displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (including IDFA, if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission), IP address, and usage data to serve relevant ads. This data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can limit ad tracking in your iPhone Settings under Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Subscription data
In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple via StoreKit. We do not collect or store payment information. Purchase history is managed by your Apple ID.
How We Use Your Data
- To analyse photos of dishes and menus using the Google Gemini API and return nutritional estimates to you.
- To provide personalised nutritional recommendations based on your health profile (read locally from HealthKit).
- To display advertising in the free version of the App via Google AdMob.
- To process and validate in-app subscriptions via Apple StoreKit.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for purposes other than those listed above.
Third-Party Services
Gustavo uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google Gemini API — AI processing of food and menu photos. Google Privacy Policy

- Apple HealthKit — Reading and writing health data with your explicit permission. Apple Privacy Policy
- Apple StoreKit / iCloud — In-app purchases and optional data sync. Apple Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare Workers — Our proxy server that routes requests to Google Gemini. Requests are processed in transit and not stored.
Data Retention
We do not retain personal data on our servers. Photos sent for analysis are processed in real time and discarded immediately after the response is returned. Nutritional data, diary entries, and health information remain on your device and/or your personal iCloud account, under your control.
Children's Privacy
Gustavo is rated 9+ on the App Store and is not directed at young children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors, and we do not store any user data on our servers. The data you enter (diary, profile) stays on your device. Some data is collected by third-party advertising (Google AdMob) as described in the sections above; this can be limited in your iPhone privacy settings. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at hello@loopsparkstudio.com and we will take steps to remove it.
Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — You can request a copy of your data.
- Right to rectification — You can request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure — You can request deletion of your data.
- Right to restrict processing — You can request that we limit how we process your data.
- Right to data portability — You can request your data in a portable format.
- Right to object — You can object to processing of your data for certain purposes.
Since most data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise these rights directly by deleting the App or clearing its data in iOS Settings. For any other requests, contact us at the address below.
Security
All communication between the App and our proxy server uses HTTPS encryption. We do not store personal data on our infrastructure. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
